The CFA Dispute Resolution Service

The CFA Dispute Resolution Service is provided by the Contract Flooring Association for its Contractor and Distributor members. The service aims to assist in the process of negotiation to settle a complaint avoiding, if possible, the need to use mediation, arbitration, adjudication or litigation.

Negotiation is by far the most cost effective option with the financial implication increasing at every level, the most costly being litigation.

The Dispute Resolution Service is completely free of charge to CFA Contractor and Distributor members. Please contact the CFA office for further information and to start the process by reporting the dispute. Call 0115 941 1126 or email info@cfa.org.uk

Providing the dispute is not about an obvious manufacturing defect, the CFA will authorise an inspection by a CFA Consultant. This will be followed by a written report which is issued to the member.

CFA Consultant members will have operated in their chosen area of speciality for a minimum of 15 years and have up-to-date knowledge of the sector. The relevance of this experience will be considered by the CFA Council as part of their application process. Consultant members are required to:

  • Be members of the Expert Witness Institute (EWI) - providing them with training in report writing, law for experts and personal courtroom skills.
  • Carry Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.
