Tony had been in the flooring industry since 1961, setting up his own company JAD Flooring Co Ltd in 1971.

A strong advocate for the industry, Tony became involved with the CFA, serving on the CFA Council for many years and proudly taking on the role of President from 1987 to 1989.  During this time Tony saw the need train the next generation of flooring fitters and along with the then CFA Secretary David Mostyn, they started to work on the Construction Industry Training Board CITB. Their work resulted in the opening of two flooring schools, one was in Manchester at Salford College and second in Erith in London. Through the demanding work provided by the CFA in setting up these training centres the CFA were offered a place on the Board of the CITB. Tony gladly accepted a Directorship, continuing to champion our industry.

In the late 1990s Tony started a new company JAD Flooring Services and Consultancy, not only fitting floors this time but branching out into flooring consultancy services.  Tony continued to work until around 2013 when he began battling with dementia at the age of 70.

Tony's funeral is being held at the Central Chapel, Blackley Crematorium, Victoria Avenue, Manchester M9 8PJ on Friday 28 January, at 2.00pm. If you wish to attend please could you email helen@cfa.org.uk so that notification can be passed to the family.

Our sincere condolences to Tony's family at this very sad time.
